NEW ENGLAND EXOTIC BIRD SANCTUARY

To those who have been asking regarding the website: http://mysite.verizon.net/resoj0ns/neebs2.html

In the last months of 2001, two people, completely unknown to each other, reported Robinn Nollet to the MSPCA for the mistreatment of approximately 200 exotic birds that she kept in her home. What they had seen there were approximately 150 parrots living in cages that were encrusted with filth. Maggots were in the cages and on the floors, heavy cob webs were hanging from the ceilings, blankets and sheets covered the windows to keep out the light. Approximately, 60 other birds, samller species such as zebra finches and cockatiels, were flying freely in a separate room. A well known MA Avian Vet, who had seen Robinn's birds previous to this and who had had to euthanize several because of Psittacosis, refused to continue to see any more of Robinn's birds as she believed she is a "hoarder."

The MSPCA granted Robinn time to clean up and then inspected several times. They made her take the blankets off the windows and install lights. They brought in two veterinarians, neither of whom was an Avian Vet. Although they conducted no tests of the birds and in spite of the fact that the MSPCA suspected that Robinn had temporarily removed approximately 50 birds during their inspection, they allowed her to continue operation of her "sanctuary."

According to a witness who was a volunteer for Robinn at the time, as soon as the MSPCA left, the lights were removed and the blankets and sheets were put back over the windows.

In November of 2003, these pictures were taken by a volunteer working at Robinn's. The MSPCA was once again notified and up until this moment, have done nothing. The Board of Health was called in and in the last week of October 2004 declared that Robinn's house was unfit for human habitation. Robinn did not allow pictures to be taken of the birds.

Affidavits attesting to the truth of the conditions in which these birds are held are on file with the District Attorney's office.
